Find Hope for Pelvic Floor Disorders

Symptoms and Treatments

It’s common to feel uneasy discussing pelvic symptoms. But we encourage you to find comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. One out of every three women in the U.S. experiences symptoms from pelvic floor disorders. At AdventHealth for Women, your most sensitive health concerns are always welcomed with warm understanding, confidentiality, and expertise. We want to restore your quality of life by relieving your discomfort — which starts with easing your mind. Our physical therapists and surgeons provide healing with the latest advances in technology, including targeted pelvic floor therapy, office procedures to treat urinary symptoms, and minimally invasive robotic surgery to treat pelvic organ prolapse.

Even if your symptoms feel minor, we want to empower you to discuss them with us. When you’re proactive about your health, you can find greater wellness for years to come and prevent any issues with later urinary incontinence, pelvic discomfort, or pelvic organ prolapse. We recommend you call us if you're experiencing any of these symptoms:

  • Frequent or urgent urination
  • Leaking urine when laughing or coughing
  • Painful urination
  • Pressure and pain in your vagina, bladder, or rectum
  • Vaginal bulging
  • Incomplete bladder emptying

We’re always here to listen to your concerns, quickly and accurately diagnose your condition, and provide you with the personalized treatment you need to restore your quality of life when dealing with:

  • Pelvic organ prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, uterine or vaginal vault prolapse)
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Overactive bladder
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Vesicovaginal fistula
  • Rectovaginal fistula
  • Urethral diverticulum
  • Urinary retention
  • Vaginal mesh complications

If surgery is required, our surgeons utilize minimally invasive surgical techniques including vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic options to get you back to your life faster. Our highly skilled, fellowship-trained surgeons are leaders and teachers in the field of urogynecology and are experts in surgical advancements that offer the following benefits:

  • Faster recovery time
  • Less pain after surgery
  • Lower risk of complications
  • Lower risk of infection and bleeding

After your procedure, you may find immediate relief. Specialized pelvic rehabilitation therapy can help you feel even better.

Pelvic Rehabilitation

Whether you’re experiencing incontinence post-delivery, would like to manage the pelvic floor disorders without a surgical intervention, or you would like to return to the life you love after a pelvic surgery, we have a tailor-made rehabilitation plan waiting to help.

Our board-certified physical therapists have special training in treating bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic pain, abdominal/organ conditions, and other pelvic floor issues. You’ll be treated with the latest advances in rehabilitative techniques, including computerized biofeedback, and provided with strengthening and relaxation techniques you can practice at home. Should you require some extra pain relief, your personalized healing plan may include over-the-counter medications, prescriptions, or hormone therapy.

No matter what your pelvic rehab has in store, you will experience the kindness and whole-person care you need to once again feel your best.
