Dr. Xavier Román is an OB/GYN physician who specializes in general and high-risk obstetrics; minimally invasive surgery; and adult and adolescent gynecology. A native of Puerto Rico, he was inspired to become a physician by his mother’s OB/GYN, who saved his life when he was born. He attended Florida State University on scholarship and earned his medical degree with clinical honors at Ponce Health Sciences University. He was later an award-winning resident at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, and thereafter spent several years in private practice in Ocoee and Lakeland, FL. Dr. Román’s philosophy of patient care is “patients come first,” and what he finds most enjoyable about his job is being part of a baby’s delivery and seeing parents’ reactions from the first moment when they hold their child. He is fluent in English and a native Spanish speaker.
